You know, I would figure that as part of Puck’s character development he wouldn’t use slurs against Artie.  Or does he use slurs against all the other characters too?  And would you tag it if he did?

I’m sorry if it’s offending you that I included a slur within this false Facebook conversation. But to be honest, in order for me to create these, I often go back to different things within the show previous because it makes it easier for me to make them. I was referencing the episode where Puck gets out of juvie and decides to use Artie as his “community service.” If my mind serves correct, he wrote something along the lines of ‘hanging with the crip’ as his service for his service worker. Therefore, I decided to include it to help enhance the conversation and make it more realistic. It wasn’t my intention to upset anyone over this. I was just merely trying to create a more realistic Puck. Also, yes, Puck has had current character development. However, I get plots based on all different periods of the show. It was my intention to use the previous Puck, the one who’s still working up to that new development. Please don’t think I find it acceptable to use negative slurs on anyone. I’m merely trying to create the most realistic conversation I can. In no way am I trying to use slurs against Artie and his character, especially considering Artie is one of my favorite characters on the show. And as far as insinuating I wouldn’t do this for any other character, please feel free to read through other plots I have posted. This isn’t the only slur used. I do not believe in using derogatory or negative terms towards anyone, however, to enhance this page and it’s likeness to the actual show, I do use them. I advise you not to look at my page if it upsets you. I also advise you not to watch the actual show, considering it’s much worse than this.

Sighs, yeah, he did.  Part of me hopes that Artie explained it to him, as unlikely as it is.
But in general, this fandom is fine with ableism, while condemning homophobia and sexism.  Most people scream at you when you point out that cripple and all it’s permutations are slurs as well, so I definitely appreciate your even tempered response and your reasoning does make sense, unfortunately.
So many people just don’t realize that ableism is as awful homophobia and sexism, and the show only reinforces this thought.  Thus, when something like this occurs, we tend to reblog it point out that ableism is bad because you would never know it from the show (which often infuriates me, yeah).  I know that I certainly didn’t know cripple was a slur before I ran with the Artie stans.  Basically, in a case like this, you never know if it’s someone sticking to the show or someone who honestly thinks crip and cripple are okay words to use.

Believe me, I definitely understand that the use of words like cripple and ‘crip’ can be seen as offense slurs. It angers me too that the show has yet to focus on the fact that it’s just as wrong as showing homophobia and sexism. Some of the scenes on the show that anger me most are the ones involving Santana talking that way to Artie! I appreciate your response too, and I really hope that my own response was appreciated because I didn’t want to come off as rude. I just wanted to make sure that you understood I don’t support ableism, homophobia, sexism, or anything else along those lines. I’m sorry that I upset you over it! I incorporated a little side-note about this on my page, so hopefully others can read it and understand where I am coming from when I create these!
